BORDEAUX – On the second day of the World championship 3-cushion in Bordeaux, players from the top of the world ranking will come to the table. Torbjörn Blomdahl, Dani Sánchez, Dick Jaspers, Tayfun Tasdemir and Eddy Merckx are in the first half of the draw. The Belgian will start his day against a dangerous opponent: Semih Sayginer, who lost to Luis Aveiga yesterday and will now play for his last chance to survive.

The seven Korean players for the championship
On the opening day, the best match was played by Eddy Leppens, who casually beat Peruvian Cayo Bardales: 40-16 in 18 innings (2.222 average). The players who came closest to Leppens’ average were Vietnamese Anh Vu Duong (1.666), Greek Nikos Polychronopoulos and American Miguel Torres (both 1.538) and the surprising Costarican Erick Tellez (1.481).
There were three runs over 10 on the first day: Nikos Polychronopoulos had a twelve, his opponent Andrès Lizarazou ran eleven in the equalizer and Adnan Yüksel made a ten in his match against Dion Nelin.
Sixteen matches were played, producing a total of 1076 points in 972 innings, for an average 1.106. Jan Álles (Czeck Rep.) had the lowest average (0.515), Egyptian champion Riad Nady scored 0.538. Nady also had the least points (14 in 26), followed by Cayo Bardales (16 in 18) and Jan Áles (17 in 33).
