Merlin Romero recorded the best match in two sessions: 30 in 11 innings

CALI – At the Pan American championships in Cali the qualification rounds are close to the end. With 64 players in sixteen groups is played to 32 places in the main event. The Colombian favorites are on course, the Americans are the major competitors, but top players like Luis Aveiga, Merlin Romero from Venezuela, Javier Vera and William Villanueva are contenders for the title .

Merlin Romero played the best match so far in the first round of his group. He defeated Martin Mariani from Argentina 30-7 in 11 innings (eight run).

Javier Teran and Hugo Patino played an interesting match against each other. The American led until 20-11, but then lost the control over the match, which ended in a draw: 30-30 in 26.

Merlin Romero lost after his glorious start (30 in 11) his second match 30-19 vs Pedro Reyes.

Luis Aveiga from Ecuador beat Julio Crispin from Bolivia in 13 innings (run of 11). Aveiga has already qualified in his group with four match points out of two matches.

Group A has finished last night: Carlos Campino, defending champion, won two matches and played one draw. Idolfonso Alvarez from Mexico was the second finisher on average in this group.
