LAUSANNE - The CEB (European federation) has introduced the new regulations for the European championship individual and for teams and the European cup matches, following the plans that were launched at the congress in Famagusta this year. The championships and tournaments in three-cushion will no longer been played in sets in the next season, but in matches of 40 points with a time limit of 40 seconds for one shot and two timeouts per player.
For the championships for juniors under 21 and under 17, the matches have a length of 30 and 25 points and fifty seconds per shot.
These rules are based on the plans which were launched at the recent congress of the CEB in Famagusta. The intention is that the national federations and the UMB will adopt these rules in the future, but when that will be done is not yet known. The CEB has the feedback from the Agipi Masters and asked the top players to give their opinion.
The winner of a match is the player who first reaches the 40 points, his opponent doesn't have an equalizing inning.
The objective of the European federation has always been that the matches will become shorter and more attractive to the public.
